The House of Representatives will look into the involvement of police generals in the illegal drugs trade as it also eyes to include the coddlers and protectors of drugs lords in the proposed restoration of the death penalty.
Muntinlupa City Rep. Ruffy Biazon, an ally of President Duterte, said they will pursue a congressional probe on the involvement of some Philippine National Police generals in the supposed recycling of illegal drugs confiscated during police operations.
“Next week, I will have a resolution drafted and we will pursue a probe on the involvement of law enforcers,” Biazon said.
He also proposed the inclusion of coddlers and protectors of drug lords, including PNP officials, in the death penalty proposal. “They should be included, especially that they are persons in authority. They should be held accountable under the law,” Biazon said.
Last week, Biazon filed a bill seeking to impose death penalty by legal injection against drug traffickers.
Biazon also asked Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to simply act and hunt police generals allegedly coddling drug lords. Dela Rosa has called on police generals and other PNP officials allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade to surrender in 48 hours or die.
“I would give an unsolicited advice na just take action kasi parang napi-preempt lang natin ‘yan,” Biazon said. “Kasi you are telegraphing your punches kapag ganito na nasa press statements tayo,” he pointed out. (Charissa M. Luci)
