It was one monotonous day inside a grocery store when Lanirie Caudal decided to make fun of the store’s items with best friend Mariella ‘Yela’ Ramos.
Using her her cellphone, Lanirie or Lanie took one juice drink, focused her camera phone on Yela then uttered the words “Be pahingi nga ng… Sunkist (isang kiss)”, then immediately panned the camera on the item.
The two had a hearty laugh and continued their repartee on other products and ended up with a 5-minute recording with dozen more items which they later on uploaded on their Facebook account.
At least, makapagbigay kami ng good vibes,” said Lanie.
Little did Yela and Lanie know the video will soon go viral on social media, earning the moniker ‘Grocery Dub Girls’.
A popular FB page, Filipino Dubs, has uploaded the duo’s video which has garnered 4.6 million views to date.
Among the wisecracks that were appreciated by their viewers was on a biscuit product.
Lanie: ‘Beh… beh… Beh!’
Yela: Ano ba?! Huwag mo nga ako… Nissin! (inisin)
Also a hit was their gag on a line of bottled water.
Yela: ‘Hindi, Evian (Iba yan)’.
There are some products which are unheard of but gained attention like a certain milk for pregnant mothers named Prenagen.
Lanie: ‘Dati magkaaway sila noh? pero ngayon, Prenagen (friends again).
Friends who are aware of the potential windfall they may earn from uploading original videos online have advised them to warn other social media accounts who illegally download and post their work.
The two however would rather think about the happiness they bring to whoever sees their videos.
In fact, the two rarely edits their videos and are not keen on putting some refinement on their shoots, reason why their unadulterated laughters are often heard towards the end of every video.
Both aged 19, Lanie and Yela are classmates and are taking up Business Management at the University of the East in Caloocan City.
Because of their fun videos, now totalling 13 parts, they have already received offers asking them to compose ditties for their products.
The Malabon-born Yela admits showbiz offers have already reached them, something which they decided not to entertain at this point of their young lives.
Lanie hopes to have her own restaurant while Yela wants to follow the footsteps of her aunt Leny who’s had numerous success in putting up different stalls in different malls.
And the question guys out there would like to ask these two cuties?
