The 24th Defense & Sporting Arms Show (DSAS), the country’s longest firearms show, will be held on July 14-18 at the Megatrade Hall, 5th Floor Building B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
Lawyer Hector Rodriguez, president of the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD), said this year’s event is expected to draw more gun enthusiasts after President Rodrigo Duterte reiterated his support to the civilian gun community being a multiplier force against criminal elements.
Also, Rodriguez hailed the president’s directive to all government agencies to streamline the requirements and hasten the processing time of transactions with the public. “We are hoping that this will convince gun owners with delinquent license to renew their document,” he stressed.
A wide array of new firearms, gun accessories and shooting apparel will be available at the exhibit area where more than 50 of the country’s major gun manufacturers and dealers will set up booths to assist visitors.
As a tradition, AFAD also organized free seminars on the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) application, responsible gun ownership, self-defense, and disaster survival techniques to be conducted by experts.
A joint project of the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Firearms and Explosives Office and AFAD, Rodriguez said the DSAS will again host the Firearms Caravan which will assist applicants of LTOPF and license renewal at the event venue.
For lucky DSAS visitors, AFAD also lined up several raffle prizes which will be drawn during the five-day event.
AFAD advised gun show visitors to pre-register at www.afad.ph/dsas to avoid queuing at the venue entrance.
