Philippine National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa admitted yesterday that he has a crush on Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin.
“Huwag na [nating] balik-balikan ‘yan, nagagalit na misis ko. Mamaya sigurado ako, mamalasin ako mamaya. Pero ito, sa totoo lang, in fairness crush ko si Angel Locsin. Maganda,” said dela Rosa, during an interview on the daily morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” aired on ABS-CBN.
Asked if he wanted Locsin to play Darna again, the police general said, “Sana.”
Comedian Eric Nicolas, one of the hosts of the morning show, joked to dela Rosa that he would be the heroine’s “bato” if given a cameo role in future Darna movie.
“Oo, ako ’yung lululunin,” dela Rosa, 54, gamely said.
In the fictional story, Narda, who is similar to Wonder Woman, swallows a white stone and transforms herself into super heroine Darna.
It was reported that a new Darna movie is in the offing. Initially, Locsin was tapped to reprise the role on the silver screen. But the actress backed out following a surgery on her spine.
Locsin then underwent operation and she appeared to be fine now. She said that she will go back to Singapore in September for post-surgery assessment.
Producers of the new Darna movie said that several local actresses are being considered for the part. So far, no announcement has been made as to who will play the new Darna. Fans of Locsin are still hopeful that she will still play the celebrated comics super heroine.
“Sobrang hirap sagutin kasi open naman ako kung gaano ko ka-gusto yung project. Kailangan ko lang magpa-galing talaga. Kung ibibigay sa akin, para sa akin. Kung hindi man ibigay sa akin, siguro hindi ‘yata sa akin talaga,” said Locsin, in a separate interview on ABS-CBN.
dela Rosa also said that he wanted Robin Padilla or Cesar Montano to play his part should his life story be adapted to the big screen.
On July 1, dela Rosa assumed post as chief of the 160,000-strong PNP.
Days before the May 9 national elections, dela Rosa was relieved after he posted a message on Facebook that favoured Duterte.
“Those who will cheat and will manipulate this May 9 elections, be warned! We will crush you!” dela Rosa then said, based on his FB post.
Duterte and dela Rosa have known each other since 1986. In fact, Duterte even became a principal sponsor at the wedding of dela Rosa.
The marching orders of Duterte is nothing new to dela Rosa who was then the chief of police in Davao City from January 2012 to October 2013. That time, one of his missions was to end the use and sale of illegal drugs in Davao City.
Since he became a police officer, he has received some 83 medals mostly on successful operations-related awards. His latest achievement was the rescue of Sally Chua who was kidnapped in Quezon City but was taken to Davao City.
