BATAC CITY, Ilocos Norte – The Department of Energy has called on Filipinos to save electricity to help maintain the energy demand requirement generated by the power plants in the country.
DoE Supervising Science Research Specialist Federico G. Domingo said the saving electricity is much better than putting up more power plants. “If we save electricity, we don’t have to put up more power plants; and we don’t have to increase gas emission; thus, we save lot of money and we save our environment,” Domingo said.
Domingo led speakers in the kick off leg of the nationwide multi-sectoral advocacy fora on use of alternative fuels and other energy technologies at the Teatro Ilocandia of the Mariano Marcos State University here Wednesday.
The fora, initiated by the Alternative Fuels and Energy Technology Division of the DoE in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency, aims to strengthen the awareness of the public about the significance of cleaner alternative fuels and energy technologies and the efficient use of energy without sacrificing the environment.
At least 100 individuals representing the local transport groups, local government officials, local media, and students had joined the event. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
