The Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal from the service of 10 key officials of the Oroquieta City Water District for allegedly misspending P6.3 million of the water utility’s funds in 2010.
They were identified as OCWD Chairman Evelyn Catherine Silagon, General Manager Ricardo Ravacio, Board Member Diego Yew, Division Managers Rosalyn Policarpio, Aljun John Berenguel, and Bobith Baloncio, Finance Officers Arleen Adlaon, Nelda Antonette Cabatingan, and Joey Kim Villabert, and Corporate Account Analyst Leonita Loma.
In a 15-page decision, the anti-graft body found the respondents guilty of grave misconduct and meted forfeiture of their retirement benefits and barred from re-entering the government service.
In a separate resolution, the Ombudsman also ordered the filing of malversation charges against the respondents. (Jun Ramirez)
