Johnriel Casimero travels to London when he makes the initial defense of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight crown against ambitious British challenger Charlie Edwards on Sept. 10 at the O2 Arena.
Casimero, 26, had won the IBF 112-lb title with a fourth-round knockout of Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand last May and his showdown with Edwards will be the main supporting bout to the headlining world middleweight title duel starring Gennady Golovkin.
Golovkin, regarded as boxing’s pound-for-pound king, meets welterweight titleholder Kell Brook of England, who is jumping up in weight in his bold bid to dethrone the Kazakh ring master.
Despite his apparent lack of experience, Edwards, just 23, is upbeat about his chances of sending Casimero home in tears.
