Former food entrepreneur Gabriel “Bong” Daza III, ex-husband of 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz and father of actress Isabelle Daza, passed away on Thursday.
Isabelle, 28, bid goodbye to her father on Instagram in which she posted a throwback photo with her dad.
For the past days, the “Tubig at Langis” actress had been asking prayers for her father who reportedly suffered a heart attack and later fell into coma.
“That time you made all the waitresses in Saisaki sing ‘happy birthday’ for me cause I hurt my head..! Love you Pop.
Hug Lola Nora for me up in Heaven,” Isabelle said on Instagram.
Isabelle did not give any details about the cause of her father’s death.
Bong was the son of culinary icon Nora Daza who passed away in September 2013. He is the elder brother of Sandy, a popular chef and restaurateur who also ventured into television.
Bong specialized in processed meats and fish as a food entrepreneur. In 1998, Bong joined politics. He ran for vice mayor of Makati City but lost in the polls.
In February, Isabelle announced that she is engaged to be married to her French boyfriend Adrien Semblat later this year.
Isabelle, cousin of television personality-fashion model Georgina Wilson, became controversial earlier this year when her mother opposed her marriage plan saying she’s too young to settle down.
“Right here we were sitting, he said, I would like Belle and I to get married one day. Sabi ko Adrien I’m not ready.
Sabi ni Ava (Gloria’s daughter), mom, he’s not asking you to get married, it’s Belle. Then I didn’t say anything,” said Diaz, during an exclusive interview in “Bandila” news program on ABS-CBN recently.
The former beauty queen stressed that she was not against Semblat, country manager for a famous sports wear, whom she describes as a nice person.
