Vice President Leni G. Robredo yesterday denied that she had a clandestine meeting with Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista during a dinner party in Makati City Tuesday.
“We greeted each other, but we didn’t talk,” said Robredo who was one of the 40 personalities who attended the event with Bautista.
A video footage that showed the meeting of Robredo and Bautista has been making rounds online after it was posted by the Dayaang Matuwid Facebook page. “On July 12, 2016, the Supreme Court ordered Leni Robredo to submit her reply to the electoral protest filed by Bongbong Marcos,” a message on the video read.
“Barely eight hours after the Supreme Court made the order, Leni Robredo held a secret meeting with fellow respondent and Comelec chairman Andres Bautista at the 10th floor of the Urdaneta Apartments in Makati. The meeting was held at the unit of socialite Baby Cruz,” it said.
According to the video, the Vice President left at 10:26 p.m. while Bautista left four minutes later.
Robredo blasted the video footage as “very malicious,” noting that if it was indeed a secret meeting, it should have showed their actual conversation. (Raymund F. Antonio)
