GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite – The alleged top drug dealer in this city was killed on Friday night by police in a shootout in Barangay Biclatan, a top police official said Saturday.
The encounter happened when Ranilo Anunuevo reportedly resisted arrest and fired his .45 cal. gun, forcing the buy-bust team to shoot the suspect who was later declared dead on arrival at the General Trias Medical Center.
Superintendent Sandro Jay de la Cruz Tapalla, General Trias police officer-in-charge, said that Anunuevo was the No. 1 drug personality in their watch list.
Tafalla said that the operation involving Anunuevo was in line with “Oplan Double Barrel” enforced in the city.
The Biclatan village operation was conducted by operatives from the city’s Police Intelligence and Anti-Illegal Special Operation Task Group.
Anunuevo was the 16th resisting drug suspect who was killed by police in encounters in the province’s lowland and upland districts since mid-June. (Anthony Giron)
