Defending champion Ceres-La Salle scored two goals late in the second half to salvage a 3-all tie with archrival and unbeaten leader Global as the first round of the United Football League came to a close last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Spaniards Adrian Gallardo and Bienvenido Maranon pulled off stunning goals in the 77th and 78th minutes as the Busmen quickly erased a 3-1 deficit to split a point with the UFL Cup champions.
Global was on the verge of securing the maximum three points and enter the midseason break by winning all 11 matches thanks to goals from Ivan Petrovic, ace striker Misagh Bahadoran, and Hikaru Minegishi.
The draw kept Global ahead in the 12-team competition with 31 points as the league takes a break for the UFL All-Stars match with Perth Glory.
