The Philippine Coast Guard has urged ship salvor Harbor Star to submit a plan so they can immediately salvage the M/V Captain Ufuk that sunk at the Manila Bay Sunday.
According to PCG spokesman Commander Armand Balilo, they commissioned Harbor Star to come up with the salvage plan with detailed steps on how they can properly and safely remove the Panamanian vessel.
He said that the vessel should be removed from the Manila Bay as soon as possible as it poses danger to all marine vessels traversing the route.
Furthermore, Balilo said that a typhoon can wash the vessel ashore, bringing more danger not only to other vessels at the Manila Bay, but also to the pedestrians at the Baywalk on Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
“Unang-una hazard ito sa navigation at pangalawa kapag dumating ang malalakas na hangin dulot ng bagyo, baka maging panganib ito sa mga nasa Baywalk),” he said. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
