Expect a totally simple and blame game-free State-of-Nation Address of President Duterte next week.
Paola Alvarez, spokesperson of the Department of Finance, said it was unlikely that the President would put blame on certain individuals for the problems facing the country in his first SoNA on July 25.
“As of the moment, we have no confirmation on what the President’s speech is about. But I think based from his personality, you don’t see him doing that and he is one who takes charge and he is accountable for his actions all throughout,” Alvarez said in a press briefing in Malacañang.
“So I think it would be the same tone and there will not be any blaming game,” she added.
Alvarez, daughter of Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, is part of the Palace group involved in preparations for the upcoming SoNA. The team, including film director Brillante Mendoza and Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Martin Andanar, earlier held an inspection of the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City, the venue of the President’s major public address.
Alvarez said this year’s SoNA would be different since it would not be a fashion show and instead focus on the President’s message.
She said the President’s SoNA would likely spell out details of his 10-point economic agenda. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
