MANGALDAN, PANGASINAN – For this town’s police chief Superintendent Benjamin Ariola, blood cannot always be considered thicker than water.
Ariola recently ordered the immediate arrest of his 39-year-old sibling Mamerto who has been hooked on drugs for quite some time.
Ariola said this relatives have agreed to their action for as long as no case will be filed against their troubled kin.
“Trabaho lang walang personalan. Ang agreement between family members, no cases filed basta kwan na lang namin na magkapatid at saka mother ko,” said Ariola.
The police chief admits he is aware that Mamerto has been into drugs since 2015 and that he made efforts convince him change his lifestyle by making him as an errand boy.
“We gave him all kinds of advices. We really feel humiliated by his acts,” added Ariola.
Soon after being named police chief, Arriola decided to detain Mamerto and start the rehabilitation process of his troubled brother.
The Ariolas are now deciding whether to turn Mamerto over to the PNP’s anti-illegal drugs campaign or undergo a rehabilitation program. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
