CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – Volunteers Against Crimes and Corruption (VACC) chairman Dante Jimenez assured the family of murder victim Christopher Libunao of their full support in attaining justice for their deceased loved one.
Libunao, 50, was peppered with bullets at close range allegedly by councilor Eduardo Jose “EJ” Joson after a parking altercation in the victim’s area.
A witness claimed that Libunao, a resident of AGL Heights in Brgy. Calimbambangan in this city, was livid after seeing a silver gray Toyota Innova parked and blocking their gate.
A few minutes later, Joson was reportedly seen attacking and punching Libunao then later on shot the victim at close range.
An autopsy report reveal that Libunao died from gunshot wounds in the head and body.
Jimenez meantime has recommended Atty. Ferdinand Topacio to be the lawyer of the victim’s family. Both Jimenez and Topacio together with a number of VACC members went to Cabanutuan City to pledge their support.
“We will support the family to attain justice but they have to make sure that they will also continue this fight without hesitation,” Jimenez said.
Joson is said to be the son of the late vice-mayor Eduardo Joson III and is the grandson of former Nueva Ecija governor Eduardo “Tatang” Joson.
Meanwhile, the VACC has already coordinated with newly-appointed Cabanatuan police chief Ponciano Zafra together with Provincial Director Manuel Cornel who both assured of a fair investigation and proceedings. (SHEEN CRISOLOGO)
