Five suspected drug peddlers were killed while another one survived when unidentified armed men peppered them with bullets while having a pot session inside a public cemetery in Malabon City early yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatalities as Myra Zulueta-Moon, 51; Edmund Zuelueta-Otico, 28; Fe Nicanor, 43; a certain Ate Baby, about 50-60 years old; and one alias “Peter Bakla. They died on the spot.
Another victim, Edmer Zulueta-Otico, 31, survived the attack.
Investigation conducted by PO2 Julius Mabasa and PO1 Jose Rome Germinal of Malabon Police Criminal Investigation Unit showed that the victims were celebrating the birthday of Edmund inside a mausoleum in Tugatog Cemetery at around 12:30 a.m. when four motorcycle-riding armed men, all wearing bonnets, shot them.
The survivor said that they were having a pot session when the attack took place.
Eight spent shells from .45-caliber pistol, a plastic sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the crime scene.
Police also found in the place two pieces of folded white bond paper with markings that read “PUSHERS KAMI ‘WAG TULARAN. PAPASOK KAMI JAN SUSUNOD KAYO!”
Investigators learned that Myrna Zulueta-Moon was a drug peddler in Malabon, and Edmer was her drug runner.
Edmer told police that their group usually hangs out at the cemetery to sell and use illegal drugs.
Police are now hunting down the gunmen who killed the alleged drug offenders.
Investigators gathered from concerned citizens that the cemetery is allegedly being used as place for trading illegal drugs and haven of alleged drug users and peddlers. (JEL SANTOS)
