The Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) took over operations at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) yesterday and wasted little time to assert itself.
The heavily-armed police commandos stormed Building 14 of the NBP maximum security camp where high-profile drug lords and VIP inmates are confined.
Before raiding the building, the prisoners at Building 14 were placed inside two PNP buses outside the facility.
Seized from Building 14 were a gold plated Valentino watch, cell phone signal boosters, transistor radios, TV sets, voltage regulator, rice cooker, DVD players, a Kenneth Cole watch, multi-band radio, electric drill, and cash in peso, yuan, and US dollar.
Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre and PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa led the media in inspecting the contraband found in the building.
Dela Rosa presented to the media prisoners Peter Co, Jaybee Nino Sebastian, and Herbert Colangco.
Dela Rosa talked to Colangco, who was wearing a rosary and told him, “Kung talagang naniniwala ka kay Lord, gawin mo ’yung mabuti.”
He asked Sebastian if he’s the “siga” in the NBP, which the latter denied. (JONATHAN HICAP)
