Former Palawan governor Abraham Khalil Aldeguer Mitra has been appointed as chairman of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Mitra, 46, replaces Juan Ramon Guanzon, who served the GAB for a total of nine years, the first three as a commissioner, and the last six, as chairman of the government agency tasked to regulate professional sports.
A document from Malacañang arrived at the GAB last Monday.
The youngest son of the late House Speaker Ramon Mitra, the new GAB head graduated from San Beda College in 1991 and served as Presidential Consultant for Palawan (1998 to 2000) during the administration of Joseph Estrada.
It could not be determined if the two incumbent commissioners – Fritz Gaston and Adel Tamano – are also on the way out.
