6 p.m. – CaféFrance vs Phoenix
CaféFrance battles Phoenix.
Defending champion CaféFrance and league leader Phoenix face off for the first time since their thrilling title showdown last conference as they aim for the solo lead today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Bakers and the Accelerators clash at 6 p.m. with both teams expected to go all-out like in their five-game finals duel in the Aspirants Cup last April.
In that series, Phoenix took the crown behind the heroics of Mac Belo to foil CaféFrance’s bid for back-to-back championships.
Revenge is obviously on the mind of CaféFrance, which carries a 6-1 record and trail 7-1 Phoenix for the lead by a half-game.
“Alam naman natin na pag Phoenix ang kalaban, it’s all about kung sino ang mapupunta nasa taas. Nandoon yung competitive spirit for both teams palagi kasi naglaban na kami dati sa championship,” said CaféFrance coach Egay Macaraya.
“It will be a good game and I know both teams want to win that game badly.”
Despite holding the top spot, Phoenix has been dealing with inconsistencies even against also-ran teams. But Accelerators coach Eric Gonzales would like to see his squad produce their best form of the conference against the Bakers.
