REALLY? – Hope reports that Mike de Leon is staging a directional comeback are true. With Mike, one can never be sure. That is until the film is about to be shown. Think of aborted projects like “Jose Rizal” and “Imbestigasyon ni Juan Diego.” But of course, a Mike movie is always something to look forward to.
While at it, Highspeed hopes other inactive fine directors will also stage a comeback.
Carlitos Siguion Reyna comes to mind. Remember “Hihintayin Kita sa Langit”?
How about another “Salome” from Laurice Guillen.
Will US-based Lupita Aquino-Kashiwahara come home to direct another powerful film, like “Minsa’y Isang Gamugamo”?
Missed is Rory Quintos of “Anak” fame.

MORE DIRECTORIAL COMEBACK – How about Rowell Santiago, Romy Suzara, Ricky Davao, Dingdong Dantes, Christopher de Leon, Edgar Mortiz, Eddie Garcia?
Not to forget Butch Perez, who made such memorable films as “Balweg,” “Haplos,” “Gaano Kita Kamahal,” “Mumbaki.”
Perhaps Gina Alajar and Joel Torre could direct their debut movies.
Also Coco Martin, who has a say in the concept of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
Also missed are the action films of Toto Natividad and Joe Carreon.
And the melodramas of Elwood Perez. Think “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit.”
