Jaja Santiago was yesterday named as the fifth member of the Philippine team competing in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, a bonus for her Foton team which was also tasked by the Philippine Superliga to form the national squad for the AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship.
Santiago’s inclusion in the elite team was announced by no less than PSL President Ramon “Tats” Suzara during yesterday launch of the AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship at the Crimson Hotel in Alabang.
Santiago, a 6-foot-5 middle blocker from National University, received her golden ticket from Suzara and PSL Chairman Philip Ella Juico.
Santiago, described by Suzara as “young, athletic and talented”, was instrumental when Tornadoes won year’s PSL Grand Prix .
“We’re glad to have Jaja on board. We expect her to gain massive experience playing against the best players in the world and serving as our country’s cornerstone in future major international tournaments.”
