Games Today
(Smart Araneta)
3 p.m. – Meralco vs TNT
5:15 p.m. – Rain or Shine vs Phoenix
Fresh from a five-day rest, Meralco has one thing in mind when it returns to the hardwood – stay unbeaten.
Unscathed in the season-ending conference, the Bolts aim for their third straight win as they take a big test by playing powerhouse TNT Katropa in the PBA Governors’ Cup today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Meralco is tied with surprising Mahindra on top of the standings with identical 2-0 cards, beating Phoenix (108-103) and Alaska (100-96) during the opening week of the pro league.
The game between Meralco and TNT is set at 3 p.m., while Phoenix meets Commissioner’s Cup champion Rain or Shine in the main game at 5:15 p.m. of this Petron Saturday Special.
The Fuel Masters are out to win their first game after a 0-2 start, while the Elasto Painters – aiming for back-to-back titles – will try to rebound from a stunning setback to TNT.
The Katropa used a decisive 11-0 run capped by a booming three-point shot by Jayson Castro to help TNT beat ROS, 101-98, last Wednesday.
Castro led TNT with 19 points, while import Mario Little had 18 points and 11 rebounds for TNT which was without Troy Rosario, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser and Kelly Williams.03
