Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon said Friday that he will personally kill corrupt Customs employees if that is the only way to curb the corruption in the agency.
In an interview over GMA-7, Faeldon said people will probably not condemn him if he starts killing what he called idiots in the bureau.
Reports said an angry Faeldon met with some still unnamed Customs officials Friday after receiving information that there are BoC officials and employees involved in corruption.
He threatened to kill corrupt Customs employees if he gets the opportunity if that is the only way they can succeed in curbing corruption in the agency.
“If I have to kill one of your officials, every opportunity I get, I will do that if that is the only way you want to reform this bureau,” he said.
However, he clarified that he will only kill those who are caught in the act and will try to resist and use force.
“The first idiot that I will catch, I will personally kill. You think people will condemn me if I start killing these idiots here? No,” he stressed.
The Customs chief said the government is losing around P300 million per day due to corruption in the bureau, making it one of the most corrupt government agencies.
He also said that he gave these employees a clean slate but reports of corruption are still rampant in the bureau. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
