Police are investigating the robbery-slaying of a 62-year-old businessman inside his house in Sta. Ana, Manila, Sunday.
Police said Leonardo Simbillo, 62, alias Mommy Joy, was found dead in the living room of his house on Eloriaga Street in Sta. Ana at 10:20 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said the victim’s body was discovered sprawled on the floor with a belt coiled around his face and his mouth gagged with the lower part of his shirt.
Investigation showed that Simbillo was last seen by his friend, Rommel Reyes, 10 hours before he was found dead.
Reyes told police that he and Simbillo had dinner on that day and parted ways at about 12:30 a.m.
Reyes also told police that he last saw Simbillo wearing his gold necklace and three gold rings but when he discovered him dead, the jewelry all missing along with his three mobile phones.
Police, however, could not find any sign of forced entry in the house yet police ruled that it was a clear case of robbery with homicide.
It was learned that the body was discovered by a nine-year-old kid when he was about to check if Simbillo was already awake.
Investigators said the kid immediately informed his brother, Vincent San Antonio, 18, about the incident who later sought the help of Barangay officials.
Although, it was a case of robbery with homicide, investigators are conducting a deeper probe to determine if there was another motive behind the killing aside from robbery. (Betheena Kae Unite)
