Whether it’s on TV or online, Filipinos continue to trust the comprehensive and nationwide news coverage of ABS-CBN in the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte last July 25.
Data from Kantar Media show that the “Pangako ng Pagbabago: SONA 2016” special coverage of the country’s largest news organization led all coverages by various networks with 21.5% national TV rating. GMA 7’s “DU30 Unang SONA”, meanwhile was a distant second with 14.8%.
“TV Patrol,” the flagship newscast of ABS-CBN which consistently lands in the Top 5 among daily programs, garnered a very high 32.2% rating to 18.3% of “24 Oras.”
As proof of its growing digital strength, the company’s live coverage in Facebook of the SONA earned 1.7 million views, more than the 1.1 million of PTV4, 632, 000 of Rappler, and the 510, 000 of GMA.
Meanwhile, the ABS-CBN News website news.abs-cbn.com managed to earn 7.6 million pageviews last July 25. The videos about the SONA raked in 1.4 million views on YouTube wherein more than 200,000 watched the whole speech during the SONA.
ABS-CBN provided nationwide coverage helmed by its top anchors and broadcast journalists in the airing of synergized programs on Free TV, cable TV via ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel ABS-CBN, DZMM TeleRadyo, on radio via DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 and online through news.abs-cbn.com, which offered livestreaming and had social media postings engaging and informing citizens.
