CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The newly created seven-man Anti-Corruption, Anti-Smuggling Team of the Bureau of Customs in Region 10, yesterday presented the team’s seized items worth P19 million, at the Customs Clearance Area-Designated Examination Area, Philvidec, Misamis Oriental.
The team, led by Cagayan de Oro customs collector Ruby Alameda, opened five containers containing three luxury cars, frozen meat, blanket, bedsheet, curtain, pillow cases and bags, and used clothing.
The seizures of the items were the result of the team’s creation in line with the instructions of Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon and Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Jessie Dellosa’s instruction to stop smuggling and corruption in the Bureau.
The luxury cars seized by the BoC consisted of one 1979 Porsche and two 1970 Mercedez Benz, which came from the United State worth R4 million. Two of the five containers were full of frozen pork, a-bellies bone-in, flank, frozen pork cutting fat and thawed meet. (Camcer Imam)
