BEST IN PH TERNO – Fashion designer Renee Salud poses with Ashley Nicole Singh of Central Luzon who won Best In Philippine Terno during a pre-pageant show for the 2016 Mutya ng Pilipinas contest held at the Robinson’s Place in Las Piñas City last Tuesday.
The Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 beauty contest revealed last Tuesday the Top 5 designers during the pageant’s annual Designers Competition held at the Robinson’s Place in Las Piñas City.
They are Adam Balasa, John Cliff Dimaala, Arnu Camay, Rex Nicdao, and Jontie Martinez.
The winner of the Designer’s Award will be announced at the grand coronation night of the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 contest at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on Saturday, July 29.
Ashley Nicole Singh of Central Luzon won the Best in Philippine Terno award in an outfit designed by Nicdao.
Special awards were also presented during the pre-pageant show. Ganiel Akrisha Krishnan, a sports reporter, won three special corporate awards – Mutya ng Camera Club of the Philippines, Mutya ng Inglot (make-up), and Mutya ng Hotel 101. Jannie LoudetteAlipo-on, of Navotas City, won Mutya ng Cynos Haircare special award.
Previously, Justin San Jose, of Calabarzon, has already won major special awards: Best in Long Gown, Best in Swimsuit, and Mutya ng SkyJet; while Krishnan, Mutyang Sheridan, Mutya ng Talent, and Mutya ng Rain or Shine.
Jacquelyn Tan, president of the Mutya ng Pilipinas Organization, said that the pre-pageant activity honors the excellence and talent of local designers through their unique and world-class creations.
Among the judges at the event were entertainment journalist Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN, popular designer Renee Salud, designer Tonichie Nocum, hair stylist James Cooper, fashion director Kata Figueroa, among others.
Thirty candidates are competing at the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 beauty contest, one of the most-enduring pageants in the country. Now on its 48th year, the three titles at stake are Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific, Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism International; and Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities.
