Even for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel head coach Tim Cone, the popular saying ‘change is coming’ holds true.
Truth is, change has come for Cone.
A proponent of the famed ‘triangle offense’ in local basketball, the veteran coach said he is no longer using that system, a system that produced a record 18 titles in the PBA.
What the Ginebra coach is doing is combine it with the styles of other coaches to maximize the talent they have in hopes of making the team competitive enough to win a championship.
“We don’t do triangle anymore,” said the 58-year-old Cone moments after his team defeated NLEX, 85-72, for a 2-1 record in the PBA Governors’ Cup last Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“I kind of learn that as we go along, players kind of learn as they go along. So it’s a struggle sometimes of course offensively (for Ginebra), but guys are buying into it,” said Cone, who is in his first season with Ginebra. (WG)
