ENCORE – Perhaps it’s too early to ask for an encore. But after watching “Imagine You and Me,” this columnist yearns more of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (AlDub as they’re more popularly called – for Alden and Yaya Dub).
What an appealing and charming and enchanting film “Imagine You and Me” is, shot in Italy’s picturesque Lake Cuomo and Verona.
Director Mike Tuviera outdid himself, eliciting fine performances from Alden and Maine. Not to forget Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who provided the heartbreaking twist in the story.
Must also mention the acting of Irma Adlawan, Kakai Bautista, and Cai Cortez – big and beautiful and endearing.

HOW TO – “Imagine You and Me” is a lesson on how to shoot a film abroad. The scenery becomes part of the story, which tells of two lost souls, in a manner of speaking, finding themselves in a foreign albeit beautiful land.
The camera work, music, sound, editing are seamless, one scene coming after the other without seeming effort.
Of course, the budget is big – R65 million, but then the expense is worth it. As of this writing, the gross is way above P200 million.

WHEN OH WHEN? – The encore that is.
Perhaps, Valentine is a good playdate, giving direk Mike ample time to prepare – production, story, the rest of the cast.
Hopefully the encore will also be shot abroad.
Why not Italy, starting with Verona, where Alden and Maine vowed their love for each other? “Imagine You and Me” didn’t show much of Verona of Romeo and Juliet fame.
After which, Alden and Maine can explore other parts of Italy… Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice. Italy is such a beautiful country Mike will never run out of scenic spots.

NO. 1 – No doubt that Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza are the No. 1 loveteam. “Yes!” magazine is so right in proclaiming them most beautiful – most popular, most likeable.
“Imagine You and Me” proved that.
Looking forward to their next starrer.
