University of Perpetual Help and Arellano University square off with their respective rivals today to extend their respective winning streaks in NCAA men’s basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Altas gun for their fourth straight victory when they clash with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals at 12 noon, while the Chiefs collide with the dangerous Lyceum Pirates at 2 p.m. in their bid for their third consecutive triumph.
The Altas and the Chiefs currently tote identical 5-2 win-loss records along with the Mapua Cardinals and the Letran Knights.
Perpetual, which is still leaning on its stunning 61-55 win over reigning champion Letran two weeks back, is expected to rely on its stifling defense after allowing its rivals to an average of 65.7 points – second best in the league.
But EAC, which tied Perpetual for most blocked shots per game (6.4 avg), is set to challenge the Altas in its bid of improving its 2-5 win-loss card.
Fans of both teams are also anticipating the matchup between burly Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou for EAC and Nigerian Bright Akhuetie for Perpetual, who have been the heart and soul of their squads. (Kristel Satumbaga)
