Teen star Liza Soberano has clarified the status of her relationship with rumored boyfriend Enrique Gil.
“Hindi ah! Walang ganun!” said Soberano, 18, when asked if she and Gil were sweethearts, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN.
Gil, who sat next to Soberano during the interview, said: “Ang sinabi ko naman parang ganun kasi ’yung dad n’ya okay naman kami. Okay naman kami ng parents nya.”
Soberano said that her grandfather wanted her to have a boyfriend at 25.
“Yung lolo ko ayaw pa n’ya. Sabi n’ya antay pa raw akong mga 25,” she said.
The “Dolce Amore” actress made the comment after Gil said in a previous episode of the same show that they were like boyfriend and girlfriend.
Gil said then: “We treat each other like boyfriend-girlfriend. Yeah, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend! That’s how we treat each other;
“Our parents hindi naman sinabi na OK pwede na kayong maging girlfriend-boyfriend. Walang ganun. But we treat each other like we are. So parang ganun narin! Parang it’s the same thing na rin!” he said.
Asked what his mom like about Soberano, Gil said: “I think she balances me out unlike the previous girls my mom met.
Feeling ko ’yung ayaw ng mom ko na I do, Liza has the same pages as my mom. It’s good to have someone who balances you. That’s what she is! Maybe that’s why my mom likes her, too!”
In April, Soberano identified Gil as her best friend in one of her captions. Fans of the love team, who believe that the stars of the prime time series are more than friends, didn’t like the “best friend” tag.
Soberano reacted and said in Twitter: “I can’t believe people still get mad for me saying he’s my best friend? Is that a bad thing?”
“Calling your best friend isn’t necessarily you’re friend-zoning them. Things can develop, right?” Soberano added.
