TWO teams from the Philippines ang masuwerteng nakapasok sa much-awaited reality-competition show na “The Amazing Race Asia” Season 5 ng AXN Channel.
Ang unang team ay ang tandem ng beauty queens na sina Maggie Wilson at Parul Shah.
Former GMA-7 talent, MTV VJ at Bb. Pilipinas-World 2007 si Maggie. Lumaban naman sa Miss Grand International 2015 si Parul kung saan na-ging second runner-up ito at napanalunan ang best in National Costume.
Ang pangalawang team ay sina Eric Tai at ang kanyang misis na si Rona Samson.
Nakilala si Eric bilang “The Eruption” ng Philippine Volcanoes rugby team at naging host din siya ng noontime show ng ABS-CBN 2 na “It’s Showtime.” Kapwa sila very athletic ng kanyang misis na si Rona.
Makakalaban nila ang ibang teams mula sa iba’t ibang bansa ng Asia tulad nila Rach and Ricky and childhood friends Louisa and Treasuri from Indonesia; beauty queens Yvonne and Chloe; brothers Alex and Will and old school mates Brandon and Alphaeus from Malaysia; radio DJs JK and Mike and siblings Rei and Kenji from Singapore; dating couple Tom and Anita from Thailand and life partners Lisa and Nicole from Vietnam.
Sa October 2016 ang premiere ng “The Amazing Race Asia” Season 5 na iho-host ng Asian-American actor Allan Wu.
“This season is going to be a huge adrenaline rush and a race like no other. The racers and AXN viewers can expect more thrills, more drama and more twists than ever before,” pahayag pa ni Wu.
Ang co-host ni Wu sa show ay ang Indonesian movie star na si Tara Basro.
Ang Pinoy celebrities na naging contestants ng “The Amazing Race Asia” noon ay sina Aubrey Miles and Jacqueline Yu (Season 1); Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez (Season 2); Geoff Rodriguez and Tisha Silang (Season 3); at Season 4 winners na sina Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera. (RUEL J. MENDOZA)
