Defending champion National University looks for a hot start in its title-retention bid when it clashes with early winner San Sebastian today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Lady Bulldogs will be parading an intact lineup in their 6 p.m. confrontation with the Lady Stags, whose team also banners a mixture of veteran and rising players.
Towering Jaja Santiago is expected to banner NU on both the offensive and defensive end, and will have a formidable backup in Jasmine Nabor, Jorelle Singh and Aiko Urdas.
But San Sebastian boasts of Open Conference MVP Grethcel Soltones, who exploded with 19 kills to finish with 20 points in the team’s 27-25, 25-22, 25-22 opening win against University of Perpetual Help last Saturday.
While the Lady Stags displayed their strength in the attack line, the squad must step up on their defense after failing to convert a single block out of 27 attempts in their last game.
Also starting its campaign this conference is University of Santo Tomas which collides with San Beda at 4 p.m.
EJ Laure is set to lead the Tigresses against the Lady Red Spikers, who has Francesca Racraquin in front of their charge after scoring 16 points in their first game.
San Beda, however, needs to recover from that game after losing to University of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.
In the Spikers’ Turf, Perpetual Help collides with Philippine Merchant Marine School at 10 a.m., while Ateneo and San Beda tangle at 12 noon.
