Games Today (The Arena, San Juan City)
9 a.m. – CSB-LSGH vs Arellano (jrs)
10:45 a.m. – Lyceum vs SSC (jrs)
Fancied Arellano guns for a sweep of the first round when it tangles with CSB-La Salle Greenhills today in NCAA juniors basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.
Game time is at 9 a.m. with the Braves seeking their ninth straight victory to preserve their hold of the top spot.
Lyceum, meanwhile, aims for solo fifth in its 10:45 a.m. confrontation with San Sebastian.
The Junior Pirates are currently tied with Letran at 4-4 in the middle standings, while the Staglets are near the cellar with 1-7.
Focus, however, will be on last year’s runnerup Arellano, which is coming off an inspiring 93-90 victory over nemesis and defending champion San Beda last week.
The win not only bolstered the Braves’ title campaign this season but also avenged their finals loss to the Red Cubs last season.
However, La Salle Greenhills is also itching to get back at Arellano following last year’s defeat in the first round of the semifinal playoffs, 75-74.
Enjoying a three-game winning streak, the Junior Blazers also aim to improve their 5-3 card going to the second round. (Kristel Satumbaga)
