Expect monsoon rains to persist over most parts of the country until weekend, as the low pressure area (LPA) north of the country continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or hanging habagat.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Buddy Javier said the LPA has already moved outside the country’s area of responsibility on Monday morning but will still strengthen the effect of the southwest monsoon over the western section of Luzon and Visayas.
“The LPA has moved outside the Philippine area of responsibility at around 8 a.m. Monday and was moving toward Taiwan. But the monsoon rains will continue over most parts of the country, especially in the western section,” Javier said.
PAGASA warned residents in these areas of possible flash floods and landslides. (Ellalyn de Vera)
