JUST A THOUGHT: “I have always known that at last I would take this road, but yesterday I did not know that it would be today.” – Japanese Haiku

“Those were the days, my friend, we thought they’d never end….”
The singing icons of the 70s, the New Minstrels and the Circus Band, are reuniting once again in a special show called “See You in September.” We saw them last at a Valentine show in February this year at the Kia Theater in Cubao, where loyal followers of Manila’s reigning bands in the 70s trooped to hear them sing again. Their legendary songs brought back pieces of our youth.
The New Minstrels and the Circus band are doing another special show this time around at The Theatre of Solaire Resorts and Casino on Friday, Sept. 2.
Set to thrill music lovers and nostalgia trippers are Louie Reyes (“All of My Life”), Ding Mercado (“You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine”), and Eugene Villaluz (Nat King Cole Medley) of The New Minstrels.
There are, of course, Jacqui Magno (“Bridges”) and Pat Castillo (“Somewhere in Time”) of the Circus Band plus Ray An Fuentes (“She Believes in Me”).
Ray-Ann is the only singer in the reunion who was once part of both famed musical groups that lorded Manila in the 70s.
Loyal followers of both Circus and New Minstrels can expect the following hot numbers on their combined repertoire:
MacArthur Park, Disco Queens Medley, Natalie Cole Medley, 60s Boy Band Medley and more.
“See You in September” is a Viva Live Production. Tickets are now available at TicketWorld 891-9999 and Viva Live 687-7236. (NESTOR CUARTERO)
