Former “Pinoy Big Brother Season 2” third placer Wendy Valdez has one piece of advice to contestants who enter the famous abode: just enjoy the moment.
“Ang pinakamagandang naaalala kong dapat mong gawin is to enjoy. Just enjoy the moment. Wag kang ma-pressure na dapat manalo ka. Enjoy the moment na nandun ka kasi hindi lahat ng tao mae-experience ’yung ganun,” said Valdez, who was chosen as one of the housemates in 2006.
“That time I was really emotional, wala akong inhibitions. At saka nung pumasok ako sa Bahay ni Kuya sinabi ko talaga na I will just be myself kahit na minsan hindi ko na iniisip ’yung mga sinasabi ko nuon. Marami ng PBB seasons at pwede kang makakuha ng mga tips na dapat mong matutunan kung sasali ka. I’m sure may mga ganun;
“No regrets when I became a housemate. I enjoyed every moment of it. I know God is in control and He allowed me to be there. Marami kang matututunan sa mga tasks na ginagawa namin. Ang saya ng mga tasks. Nag-enjoy talaga ako nun kaya nga sigaw ako ng sigaw nun;
“After PBB naman, I had lots of shows. With regards as to how I am now, I’m choosing my roles now. In 2013, I became a Christian,” said Valdez, during an exclusive interview at the contract signing of new endorsers at Belmere Skin Care Centre at Marco Polo Hotel in Pasig City recently.
Michelle Encarnacion, owner of Belmere Skin Care Centre, said that Valdez is one of the early endorsers of the skin care center with branches in Alabang, Muntinlupa; Pasig-Shaw Boulevard and Centris branch in Cubao.
New life
At 34, Valdez is now married to businessman Norman Garcia.
Valdez narrated how she met her husband. “I sold my car tapos I bought a second-hand car. Sa buy and sell kasi sya.
Last year lang ’yun. We met in March, naging kami nung May, nag-propose sya nung June, and December we got married.”
Valdez revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in February. “We know God is in control of everything and He has good plans for us. We are still trying.”
She said that her husband wants to have many kids but she prefers to have three to four kids.
Asked if she wanted her children to enter showbiz or compete in beauty pageants, Valdez: “Kung ano ang ibigay sa kanya ni Lord ok na sa akin ’yun. May ibang parents kasi nagsasabi ayoko silang mag artista pero sa akin OK lang.”
Valdez said that she is still active in showbiz except that she chooses her role carefully because of her religious affinity.
“I have offers pero masyado ko syang pinipili. Now, wala akong manager but Becky Aguila is always there naman. But I have decided to choose my roles. I don’t want to do kissing scenes or bed scenes na ginagawa ko before,” she said.
“Right now we enjoy each other’s company. My husband and I enjoy traveling. We just leave everything to the Lord,” added Valdez, who also won first runner-up at the 2005 Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant.
Following her stint at PBB, Valdez was launched in her own Kapamilya teleserye called “Margarita” in 2007. She also appeared in several series on ABS-CBN and TV 5 namely “Palos,” “I Love Betty La Fea,” “May Bukas Pa,” “Kokey,” “Babaeng Hampaslupa,’ “Bangis,” “Oh My G!,” among others.
