Two policemen with alleged links to illegal drugs trade were killed in Pasig City and Quezon City, respectively, Tuesday night.
Police reported that 49-year-old PO2 Miguel C. Turaray alias “Jr” was shot at close range by two unidentified gunmen board on two motorcycles driven by two other men in Pasig City.
Based on investigation, Turaray was standing near his residence on San Roque Street in Barangay Bagong Ilog when the suspects suddenly arrived and fired successive shots at him.
The victim succumbed to multiple bullet wounds in the head and body while undergoing treatment at Child’s Hope Hospital.
The suspects quickly drove away after taking the cop’s service firearm.
Police Senior Superintendent Orlando Yebra Jr., Pasig City police chief, said Turaray was off-duty at the time of the incident.
Turaray was assigned to Camp Crame’s Police Holding and Accounting Unit, Headquarters Support Service (PHAU-HSS).
Police said Turaray had been linked to illegal drug trade activities in Barangay Ilog and nearby communities and was the partner of a certain “Mac Mac”, also an illegal drug dealer.
On the same night, another drug suspect – PO1 Reyadzper Ibba, 34, detailed at Quezon City Police District Talipapa Police Station – died when he engaged his fellow cops in a shootout.
QCPD director Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said Ibba had just finished his duty and was still in his uniform when he was killed in the encounter around 6:30 p.m. along Katipunan Avenue in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.
Eleazar said a buy-bust operation against Ibba was launched by operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (RAID-SOTG) of the NCRPO after he was found selling illegal drugs.
