(Game 1)
F2 Logistics and Foton clash for the crucial first win today in their highly anticipated best-of-three championship series in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Game time is at 6 p.m. with the Cargo Movers and the Tornadoes expected to display their ferocious forms in the women’s volleyball club tournament.
Expectations are high for both F2 Logistics and Foton, who are coming off with morale-boosting performances in the knockout semifinals.
Parading with former La Salle standouts, the Cargo Movers marched into the final round with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-13 victory over the Petron Tri-Activ Spikers, while the Tornadoes downed the RC Cola-Army Lady Troopers, 21-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21.
F2 Logistics remains a force to reckon with after winning all but one match heading to the finals. But its single loss came at the hands of the dangerous Foton side, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19, last July 31.
Still, the Cargo Movers are expected to go all out with Aby Maraño and Cha Cruz leading the squad along with Ara Galang, Mika Reyes and Kim Fajardo.
Foton, meanwhile, would not get intimidated with Jaja Santiago, Cherry Rondina and Angeli Araneta expected to match F2 Logistics’ strength.
“I think we’re peaking at the right time. We just need to sustain this kind of energy all the way to finals. It will all boil down to maturity,” said Foton coach Vilet Ponce De Leon, who boasts of a title in the import-flavored Grand Prix Conference last year.
