The terror group ISIS has plotted an attack on the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant in Manila on January 30, 2017.
The Daily Mail in London reported on August 9 that the threat came from a tutorial video posted to a Filipino supporter of ISIS group that suggested jihadis to create a bomb for Miss Universe.
It also reported that supporters of the terror group planned to launch an attack against the prestigious beauty contest.
In the video, a jihadi has called on terrorist supporters to target foreigners whose nations have participated in the war against ISIS, the Daily Mail quoting Fox News said.
The video offers a downloadable clip on how to make your own suicide belt and a 49-page guide in English on how to make explosives, according to the video.
Contestants for the Miss Universe contest from more than 80 countries are expected to arrive in Manila early January.
Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism said yesterday that the threat is serious but insisted the country would be ready to hold the pageant next year.
The DoT said that the video is considered as a serious threat. “DoT considers this (video) as a serious threat.
Nonetheless, the Philippines is ready to host the pageant next year,” it said.
