A former city councilor of Malabon was gunned down, while three others were wounded when two armed men shot them while attending a birthday party Saturday night.
Police identified the fatality as Eddie Nolasco, 61.
Three other victims – Servando Sotto, 56; Fernando Tongco, 63; and Michael Servando, 38 – were rushed to Manila Central University Hospital for treatment of bullet wounds.
Investigation showed that Nolasco was attending a birthday party in Barangay Potrero when he was attacked by two gunmen who were only wearing caps.
Reports said that the victim and the wounded victims were having a drinking binge at around 9:30 p.m. when they were fired upon.
Witnesses said the target of the gunmen was Nolasco, saying he was shot several times.
After killing the former city hall official, the gunmen then fired at other visitors before fleeing on board a motorcycle towards Araneta Avenue.
Doctors said that Sotto was hit in his left ankle; Tongco was shot in his back; and Servando was hit in his left and right arm.
Police recovered from the crime scene nine spent shells of .45-caliber pistol.
