THEY WANT TO BE ACTORS: At a dinner table recently among media friends, talk shifted to ambition. What do young people these days want to be when they grow up?
Ethel Ramos, ever the wise old woman of entertainment media, noted how many young people nowadays want to become actors. It used to be, back in the old days, that children dreamt of becoming doctors and lawyers someday, she stated. “But times have changed. Many of them now want to become actors,” she added. They have heard so much about how actors get pampered by fame and fortune.
Ethel need not go any further to prove her point. A few days after that conversation, we found ourselves seated together again at another media function, this time to witness the launch of eight new additions to the ever-growing cast of long-running gag show “Goin’ Bulilit.”

EIGHT NEW BULILITS: The eight new “bulilits” are Raikko Mateo, Nathan Prats, Vito Quizon, Marc Santiago, Chunsa Jung, Sophia Reola, Cessa Moncera, and Lilygem Yulores.
Raikko is already a familiar face to many after he portrayed Honesto in that primetime teleserye of the same title.
Nathan and Vito, on the other hand, have showbiz running in their blood.
Nathan is the son of Camille Prats, while Vito is the son of Vandolph Quizon.
They join the wacky gang of Izzy Canillo, Clarence Delgado, Mutya Orquia, Bea Basa, Ashley Sarmiento, CX Navarro, JB Agustin, Kazumi Porquez, Mitch Naco, Allyson Mcbride, and Josh de Guzman.

CHILDREN IN MAIN CAST: As the program turns 11 this year, director Frasco Mortiz said that it’s a pleasure to nurture the kids who have passed their way these many years. “Bulilit” serves as their transition to young adulthood.
For his part, Edgar Mortiz, the show’s creator, said he’s still hoping to realize his dream project, to produce and direct a film starring his young wards. The senior Mortiz said that one of his fondest dreams is to make a film where child actors shall play adult roles. He hopes to realize that dream soon between rounds of golf.
Some of “Goin’ Bulilit’s” popular graduates are Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes, Miles Ocampo, Jane Oineza, Kiray Celis, CJ Navato, Kristel Fulgar, Sharlene San Pedro, Trina Legaspi, Mika de la Cruz, Nash Aguas, and Alexa Ilacad.
“Goin’ Bulilit” entertains you after “TV Patrol Weekend” every Sunday on ABS-CBN. (NESTOR CUARTERO)
