The House Committee on Appropriations will start discussing President Duterte’s first proposed national budget for next year amounting to P3.35 trillion with hopes that the spending bill will be signed into law by December 7.
Davao City Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles, panel chairman, said budget briefings will be held starting today until September 13. “Then on September 19, we will bring the budget to the floor for plenary debates,” Nograles said.
The Development Budget Coordinating Committee, composed of the Department of Budget and Management, National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Finance, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, is expected to present the budget overview, including the macro-economic assumptions, projected borrowings, and sources of funds for the country’s annual operations today.
