The struggles to get back in the game after battling injuries was just a small part of the many concerns that led to problems after problems of controversial PBA player Mark Cardona of NLEX.
Last Sunday, the 34-year-old Cardona, once one of the league’s feared offensive weapons, was rushed to the hospital after he was found unconscious in an apparent suicide attempt.
But to blame basketball primarily as the reason that led to the actions of the 11-year league veteran is ridiculous, said a source.
“Hindi naman yata tama na dahil lang sa basketball kaya umabot sa ganun si Cardona,” said a league insider yesterday as he asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the issue.
“May mga personal problems siya e, siguro yung sa basketball parte ng mga frustrations, so nag-patong-patong na sa kanya yung problema. Pero dahil sa basketball ang dahilan? Hindi naman,” added the source.
The thing that actually triggered Cardona’s actions last Sunday was when he was arrested by Quezon City police officers following a complaint of domestic violence filed by his live-in partner Bianca.
Cardona posted a cryptic photo on his Instagram account of a glass almost full of prescription pills before reports came out that he was rushed to the Perpetual Help Hospital in Las Piñas.
