ACTOR Jake Cuenca has revealed that he underwent therapy to become a better man for his girlfriend New York-based model Sara Grace Kelley.
“There were lots of issues on my mind because I’m an artist. But I’m not ashamed to say that I sought therapy to deal with some of my issues and to know what I’m really going through. Really I do that because I want to be better for her,” said Cuenca, during an interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” on ABS-CBN.
“Minsan kasi it takes a real man to admit that you have certain things you have to change. Sometimes you need to take a few steps back. Kahit gaano mo kamahal ’yung taong ’yun, gusto mo s’yang maging masaya. You have to make certain changes,” said Cuenca.
“I’m happy that my parents supported that. I’m happy she supported that. I’m happy that na-realize ko ’yung mistakes na ’yun to give myself another chance,” he added.
Cuenca, 28, said he and Kelley are back in each other’s arms. He also said that they are giving their relationship a third try. The actor told the late-night show how he and Kelley kissed and made up.
“I chased her in New York. When we broke up, there wasn’t a time to be depressed about it because I was leading a show. Responsibiliad ko ’yun and I couldn’t bring my problems to the set, that’s why everything was so reserved.
“I had to do it. They gave me a wonderful opportunity in ‘Pasion de Amor’ and it’s such a long show, I could’t let them down now. At the same time ako ’yung kuya eh. That was really difficult for me.
“When I went to New York and tried to win her back, I wasn’t exactly in the right state of mind because everything wasn’t sinking in. So I was happy to see her but I knew that there were so many issues.
“When I went back to the States in San Francisco, s’ya ’yung tumawag sa akin and she was willing to see me after such a disastrous New York trip. Finally in San Francisco, we fixed things. We’re still working on it one day at a time.
And we’re giving this a third chance. Honestly ganun ko s’ya kamahal. We love each other even at a distance. It’s worth fighting for. And she’s worth fighting for,” Cuenca said.
It was in February 2015 when Cuenca started to post pictures of him and Kelley on Instagram. Cuenca did not say when he and Kelley became a couple.
In April 2015, Cuenca credited Kelley for changing his life for the better. In September of the same year, Cuenca took Kelley to the Star Magic Ball.
Three months later, Cuenca and Kelley called it quits. Despite the break-up then, the two remained good friends.
Prior to Kelley, Cuenca dated Filipino-Australian model Chanel Olive Thomas.
