The city of Mandaluyong has been commended by the MWSS East Zone water and used water concessionaire Manila Water for the city’s support to their Lingap Sapa Program.
Recently honored with a Silver Award by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the Lingap Sapa Program is an advocacy calling for the clean-up of creeks and water bodies.
It is one of Manila Water’s environmental programs aimed at reviving rivers by reducing pollution brought about by indiscriminate disposal of solid wastes as well as ensuring proper management and treatment of used water.
Meantime, Mandaluyong has been ardently supporting the program and a major mover in promoting the East Zone concessionaire’s ‘Toka Toka’ movement which calls for the city and its residents to do its share in protecting the environment.
Being pushed by the program is the proper disposal of garbage, regular desludging of septic tank every five years, connecting to Manila Water’s sewer network and supporting the company’s community-based sanitation and sewerage projects.
