Alleged drug lord Melvin Odicta finally ran out of luck after he was gunned down at a port in Aklan, President Duterte said on Monday.
The President confirmed that Odicta was the “number one drug lord in Iloilo” who was long wanted by authorities.
“Odicta was really being hunted. Sa Iloilo, siya ang number one. Inabot siya talaga ng malas,” Duterte said in a press conference in Samar.
Odicta and his wife Meriam were reportedly shot dead early Monday morning at the Caticlan jetty port in Aklan.
Reports said two gunmen shot the couple while aboard a ferry from Batangas to Caticlan port.
Duterte said the death of Odicta was not his problem, adding that he chose his path of crime.
“I cannot say anything good or bad. Wala ako kasi yan ang pinili niya. He was corrupting everybody lahat pati yung mga governors,” he said.
The President earlier labeled Iloilo as the “most shabulized” place in the country following the alleged involvement of several local executives to illegal drug trade. Duterte identified four mayors in Iloilo with suspected drug links, including Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog. (Genalyn Kabiling)
