San Sebastian, UP, Ateneo eye Final Four.
Three volleyball teams battle for the remaining two semifinal berths today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
San Sebastian and University of the Philippines clash in a crucial match at 4 p.m., even as Ateneo collide with early semifinalist Far Eastern University at 6 p.m.
San Sebastian, UP and Ateneo tote identical 2-2 win-loss records and need the all-important victory to complete the semifinal cast.
A loss for the Lady Eagles will arrange a playoff with the loser of the San Sebastian-UP tussle.
Ateneo hopes to keep its momentum going following a 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 triumph over University of Santo Tomas last Monday, while San Sebastian and UP aim to regain their composure from defeats in their previous matches.
The Lady Stags yielded to the FEU Lady Tams last week, 27-25, 25-20, 25-11, while the Lady Maroons bowed to early semifinalist National University Lady Bulldogs two days back, 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-19.
The Lady Eagles, however, face a daunting task against the Lady Tams, whose aim is to bolster their bid for the No. 1 seeding in the Final Four.
Michelle Morente, Jia Morado, Bea De Leon and Kim Gequillana try to keep Ateneo afloat as they pit against FEU’s Toni Rose Basas, Remy Palma and Bernadeth Pons.
In the Spikers’ Turf, FEU (3-1) confronts La Salle (3-1) at 10 a.m., while Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-4) squares off with UST (3-1) at 12 noon.
The winner of the FEU-La Salle will join NU (4-1) in the semis, while UST also seeks the other semis ticket.
A loss for UST, however, would set it up for a playoff for the last semis seat with UP (3-2).
