Filipino challenger Jerwin Ancajas attempts to join elite company tonight when he collides with defending champion McJoe Arroyo for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-flyweight title at the Philippine Navy Gymnasium in Taguig.
During yesterday’s official weighin, Ancajas came in at the weight limit of 115 lbs. Arroyo, who will be making his first defense of the 115-lb crown, tipped in at 114.
Fight fans expecting to see the fight on television are in for a big disappointment as there will be no telecast.
But the show will be open to the public as a treat of Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who is promoting the title fight.
If victorious, Ancajas will become the country’s fourth world titleholder after Nonito Donaire, Marlon Tapales and Johnreil Casimero.
