Ateneo vs Far Eastern, UP vs NU as semifinals get going.
Semifinal action heats up in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City with National University tries to inch closer in defending its crown.
The Lady Bulldogs clash with the dangerous University of the Philippines Lady Maroons at 6 p.m. with hopes of gaining the early advantage in their best-of-three semis affair.
Ateneo, which caught the last semis bus last Saturday, also hopes to keep its momentum against Far Eastern University (FEU) in the other semis pairing at 4 p.m.
The Lady Eagles are coming off a morale-boosting 25-22, 25-23, 25-17 triumph over the San Sebastian Lady Stags to breathe life in their title campaign post-Alyssa Valdez era.
But Ateneo will have its hands full as FEU boasts of the top seeding after finishing the quarters with a 4-1 win-loss record.
The Lady Tams also swept the Lady Eagles in their previous meeting, 25-18, 25-19, 25-22, to make them the fancied team in the matchup.
FEU is expected to parade its core of power spikers in Toni Rose Basas, Remy Palma and Bernadeth Pons to match Ateneo’s own trio in Michelle Morente, Kim Gequillana and Ana Gopico.
Like FEU, NU also has an advantage on UP after prevailing in their first meeting, 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-19, in the quarters.
Aiko Urdas, Jorelle Singh, and Jasmine Nabor will fuel the Lady Bulldogs’ bid while UP has the young but talented spikers in Kathy Bersola, Issa Molde, and Diana Carlos.
Game 2 is set tomorrow, while Game 3, if necessary, is on Saturday also at the same venue.
